Ode to Fall
Fall…
Autumn....
No-longer-Summer….
Whatever you call it, it’s my favorite season. There is nothing like the brisk, cooler air that greets you in the morning as you leave for work. It is as Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler’s SNL characters say….“sweater weather.” I’m digging out leggings and sweaters and boots, oh my! Everything smells like cinnamon, pine and pumpkin spice. Hot coffee and tea are my drinks of choice. I am again making soups to enjoy and refreeze for another time. And the piece de resistance….the leaves! The vibrant reds and oranges of the maples and the bright yellows of the birch trees set the hills around my home ablaze and I am in awe every time I drive down the highway or along the backroads.
Fall is nature prepping for a time of rest, a time to be still and quiet. And that is how I want to treat this fall and upcoming winter months, as a time to reset, hunker down, breathe. I just can’t get enough of this time of year!
